More Than Ordinary Private Boat Hire

Your group gets its own fully crewed yacht for the day. Once the fleet is out on the harbour, the yachts come together for the Yacht Social raft-up, with DJs, swimming, lifeguards, safety boats and hundreds of people across the event. It is the freedom of your own private yacht with the atmosphere of Sydney’s original floating festival.

FLEXIBLE GROUP BOOKINGS

Choose How Your Group Pays

You do not always need to pay the full yacht price upfront. Depending on how far away your event is, you can pay in full, pay 10% each week over 10 weeks, or pay a deposit and receive a private link so your friends can pay for their own places. We call the individual-payment option Social Split. It means you do not have to collect everyone’s money yourself. The earlier you book, the lower the initial commitment and the more payment flexibility your group will have. Inside 10 weeks, the upfront amount increases and shorter payment options apply. Payment plans and Social Split are unavailable within four weeks of the event.

Bring Your Own Food and Drinks

All Yacht Social yachts are BYO, so your group can bring its own drinks, substantial food, ice and inflatables. Your yacht is your group’s private base throughout the day. Enjoy your own food, drinks and atmosphere onboard before joining the other boats at the raft-up. No glass is permitted, and groups bringing alcohol must also bring substantial food.

How Yacht Social Works

Choose Your Date

Yacht Social runs on selected dates from November to March, with most events held on Saturdays and additional dates around Christmas and New Year. Choose the date that works best for your group and see which yachts are still available.

Choose Your Yacht

Compare the capacity, per-person price and features of each available yacht to find the right option for your expected group size and budget.

3.
Choose How to Pay

Pay in full, pay 10% each week over 10 weeks, or pay a deposit and let your friends pay individually through your private Social Split link. Available options depend on how far away the event is, so booking earlier gives your group the greatest flexibility.

Share the booking details or private payment link with your friends, organise your food and drinks, and get ready for the biggest day of your summer.

Free Cancellation or a Free Date Change

Plans can change when you are organising a large group. Up to three months before your event, whole-yacht organisers can choose either free cancellation or one free date change to another available Yacht Social date within the same season, subject to availability. After the three-month deadline, the standard cancellation and date-change conditions apply.

PICK-UP & DROP-OFF

All Yachts Depart and Return to Rose Bay

Registration takes place at Rose Bay Public Wharf before the yachts depart together for the event. The exact raft-up location is selected each week according to wind, weather and harbour conditions. Depending on the day, the event may take place near Rose Bay, Whiting Beach, Farm Cove or another suitable Sydney Harbour location. All yachts return to Rose Bay at the end of the event.

Event FAQs

Yacht Social is a mixed-group event. All groups must include at least 25% women. Bucks parties and all-male groups are not permitted. This requirement does not apply to SHIPrekt events.

When you book a whole yacht, your group has that yacht privately for the event. Your yacht then joins the other participating boats at the Yacht Social raft-up, where the DJ stage, swimming area and wider event atmosphere are shared across the fleet.

The price includes yacht hire, skipper, crew and entry to the Yacht Social raft-up event. Yacht facilities vary and may include items such as a BBQ, BBQ utensils, eskies and sound systems. Check the individual yacht listing for the exact features included on your chosen boat. The wider event also includes the floating DJ stage, lifeguards and safety boats.

Available payment options depend on how far away the event is.

Pay in full: Complete the whole-yacht booking in one payment.

Payment plan: For eligible bookings made more than 10 weeks ahead, pay 10% each week over 10 weeks. A shorter four-payment arrangement applies when the event is between four and 10 weeks away.

Individual guest payments — Social Split: Pay the required deposit and receive a private payment link for your group. Your friends then purchase their own places through that link instead of sending the money to you.

The upfront payment varies according to the yacht and the time remaining before the event. Payment plans and Social Split are unavailable within four weeks of the event.

Up to three months before your event, you can choose either free cancellation or one free date change to another available Yacht Social date. After that deadline, the standard cancellation and date-change conditions apply. Please read the complete booking terms before purchasing.

Yes. A refundable $1,500 damage bond applies to each whole-yacht booking. The bond is separate from the yacht price and is not due when you first book. It must be paid by bank transfer by the Wednesday before your event. It will be returned within 48–72 hours, provided your group has not caused damage to the vessel. Full details are available in the Terms of Service.

Yes. You can bring your own drinks, substantial food, ice and inflatables. No glass is permitted. Groups bringing alcohol must also bring substantial food.

Yes. All Yacht Social events are strictly for guests aged 21 and over.

Yacht Social operates in most weather conditions, including rain. The event will only be cancelled if the vessel operators determine that conditions are unsafe, such as dangerously strong winds or other hazardous harbour conditions. The final safety decision rests with the vessel operators and event team.

Hens parties are welcome, provided the group meets the event requirements. Bucks parties and all-male groups are not permitted. Yacht Social is a mixed-group event, and all groups must include at least 25% women. This requirement does not apply to SHIPrekt events. Contact us for details of any current hens-party offers.
